I'M NEW- HOW DOES THIS WORK?

I’M NEW TO GETTING TATTOOED! HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Q: I have a photo on my phone that I want as a tattoo. How can I make this happen?

A: If you stop in the shop as a walk-in, an artist who has time will be able to tell you if your design will work as a tattoo, or if it will have to be altered to make a long-lasting design. You can also email an artist and include your image, and they can tell you if a formal consultation is needed to go over your idea, or if you can just pop in and get it same day.

Q: I have this idea that I want personalized. How do I go about getting a design done?

A: Stop into the shop on Walk-In Wednesday, or make an appointment over email for a consultation- check out the “Appointments” tab to get the email address you need. Be sure to have some reference photos so an artist doesn’t have to guess what’s in your head. Knowing a style that you like is also helpful. Have you checked out an artist’s work to see the types of things that they do? it’s a good idea to check out their style to see if something they did is the “look” you like.

Q: Do artists do their own drawings, or do I have to draw my custom design out myself?

A: Unless you want to get something that you drew, most artists will prefer to draw your tattoo for you! A tattoo artist has the experience to make an image that will turn into a long-lasting tattoo vs something that might not look as good as it could. Not all artwork will make a great tattoo, and an artist would be the one who could tell you that.

Q: How do I choose an artist? How do I know if that person is the artist for me?

A: First, look at an artist’s work. Do you like just about everything that they do? Chances are, you’ll be in good hands and love what you end up with! If you have an idea, send an email with images that inspired your idea (if you have any) or schedule a consultation with that artist and see what they have to say about it. Do they answer all of your questions? Do you like what they have to say? If you get a good vibe, you’ll likely end up a happy client.

Q: Do tattoos hurt? How bad is it?

A: Yes. A tattoo hurts. Every area of your body will tolerate discomfort differently, so it’s common for a tattoo to hurt worse in one area versus another area. Everyone experiences pain differently, so knowing how YOU are as an individual can give an idea of what to expect.

Q: What forms of payment do you take?

A: Ask your artist! Some artists are cash only, others may take debit/credit card payments, some may take apple pay, square or paypal. Since every artist operates differently, it’s best to ask the person you will be working with.

Q: Do I have to leave a deposit? How much do I have to leave?
